Development of the Atomic clock by ISRO- Development of an atomic clock has made ISRO the rare and well-known space organizations in the globe to have gained this sophisticated technology. Atomic clock developed by an ISRO will be used in navigation satellites to measure specific location data. The space agency presently imports atomic clocks from European aerospace manufacturer Astrium.



104 satellites launching setting a record by ISRO

ISRO demonstrated its ability to handle difficult missions by successfully launching a record 104 satellites on a single rocket. 104 is the highest number of satellites ever launched in a single mission by any nation in the globe.


Chandrayaan-1

India's first mission, Chandrayaan-1, made it possible for ISRO to go beyond the Geostationary Orbit. With this lunar exploration mission, India emerged as the 4th country in the globe to hoist its flag on a lunar surface. It also provided the necessary thrust to basic science and engineering research in the country. 




Discovery of a tremendously large Supercluster of galaxies

A team of expert Indian astronomers has discovered the very large supercluster of galaxies. This is the biggest known structures in the neighborhood of the universe - as large as 20 million billion suns. It is a path-breaking discovery and the cluster has been named 'Saraswati'.




Rifath Sharooq designed the world's tiniest satellite.

An 18-year-old boy from Karur in Tamil Nadu, Rifath Sharook, scripted history by designing the world's tiniest satellite. The tiny 3D-printed satellite is named Kalamsat, after former President Abdul Kalam, and was launched by NASA into space in one of its missions.


Mars Orbiter Mission

The Mars Orbiter Mission made the nation only country in the world to reach Mars in its first effort. Mangalyaan-1, the indigenously built space probe marked the first venture in India into the interplanetary space. It also made India first in Asia, and 4th in the world to reach the surface of Mars.


Brahmos

Brahmos is the world’s most formidable and fastest anti-ship cruise missile which denotes the big breakthrough and achievement for the supersonic missile. This is the first time the nation has developed a seeker for a missile of this calibre and class. 


Aryabhatta - the first unmanned satellite

Aryabhatta - the first unmanned satellite built by the nation. It was a breakthrough achievement in India's space programme. Aryabhata was built by the ISRO (Indian Space Research) to conduct experiments in aeronomics, X-ray astronomy, and solar physics and opened new potential for ISRO.

PARAM - India’s first ever indigenous supercomputer was a major milestone in present India’s technological journey.
