The water scarcity problem is the most
serious threat facing the world at each level: environmental, social, political
and economic. Some of the contributing factors to water crisis are water
overuse, climate change, and rising pollution. The concept of water scarcity
may also look up as the trouble in obtaining enough fresh water sources and the
reduction and deterioration of the available water sources. It is already
manifesting itself as one of the most critical problems in parts of the world,
emphasizing the need to manage the natural resource in a sustainable way with
the proper infrastructure. According to WWF, approx 1.1 billion people globally
lack access to water, and a sum of 2.7 billion still lack accesses to safe
drinking water. So, we have to save Water to secure our Future.
What
are the consequences of insufficiency?
The populace most vulnerable to water shortage
today live in China and India, whereas the problem also affects dozens of other
countries counting Great Britain, the United States, Australia, Mexico, Yemen,
Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the sub-Saharan Africa countries. There are some
repercussions tied to the threat, including:
·
Lack of access to safe, clean drinking water
·
Decreased decreases access to healthy food
·
Rates of violence and social conflict
·
Unhealthy economies and increased poverty
How to resolve and overcome water
scarcity?
In fact, the new study also revealed
that problems can be resolved by 2050 if we collaborate and execute properly to
make big changes. “Teamwork makes the dream work”- Following are the few
unbelievable strategies as key to successfully reducing global crisis:
·
Effective Treatment & Technologies
·
Improving irrigation and agriculture efficiency
·
Lifesaver Bottles and Dry bathing
·
Protecting wetlands (natural water filtration systems)
·
Deal with Pollution
·
Desalinating seawater
·
R & D/ New Innovation
·
Limiting the rate of population growth
·
Increasing water storage in reservoirs
·
Improvements in domestic and industrial water use
Conclusion
As someone said - "Alone we can do
so little, together we can do so much." If we start to look at this universal
critical issue as a whole, and with great teamwork, we’re going to be in a much
better place and prevent this issue from getting worse.
